![]() That being said, I serve as your voice of hip-hop & RnB for the service. We very much still believe in human connection & curation. We offer all the same services as our competitor’s out there (I won’t say any names, lol) but we are not algorithm driven. Slacker Radio is an on-demand streaming service. Slacker Radio – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition? Where I am today with Slacker Radio I have complete creative freedom and in the end, you don’t like something, you just skip it. Let’s face it, you ask a lot of people today and they are often tired of the repetitious programming of traditional FM radio. That being said, is why I made the leap into the internet radio side of things. Given the abundance of the internet, it has given listeners so much more options in how they get their music. ![]() A struggle today, especially in FM, is the idea of FM having to compete with technology. For those who get the bug, it is something that is hard to let go of. Radio is often referred to as the “poor man’s showbusiness” lol. It has taken a lot of sacrifices, a lot of hard work, time & energy getting to where I am today. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way? I was presented an opportunity with Slacker Radio that same year which is where I still am today, at your service, on-demand as your official voice of hip-hop & RnB. ![]() My radio career started in traditional FM, working on San Diego stations 91x, Magic 92.5 & ultimately as the night host for many years on Z90 till 2014. I have always loved music and while I can’t sing or rap, figured this would be my contribution to the music industry as a whole and my creative influence. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far. RadioRaymond, let’s start with your story. Slacker hasn’t announced prices yet for the line of players nor the car dock, but we’re guessing they’ll be in line with popular MP3 players already on the market.Today we’d like to introduce you to RadioRaymond T. The company says it can afford the price because it isn’t paying for a dedicated satellite, like the other two. If you want total control and no ads, that’ll cost $7.50 a month, well below the $12.95 Sirius and XM charge. In the second half of the year, a car dock will go on sale that will receive updated radio information for the player via satellite signals.īecause the online service is free, there are commercials and you can’t skip more than six songs. ![]() Now, the cool thing for satellite radio subscribers is that Slacker will release an iPod-like device this summer that will let you take your favorites with you - it stores a certain number of songs on the player. Slacker, launched earlier this week, is a website where all you need is a browser to listen to dozens of stations playing everything from rock to comedy - all for free. Internet radio has been popular for a few years, and now it looks like one company is set to bring it to your car.
